Grand Theft Auto 5 has just received its first update on the PC platform, taking the game to version 1.0.231.0 and apparently fixing the Windows username bug that prevented some players with non-Latin characters from launching the title.

GTA 5 finally launched on the PC platform earlier this week, and while most fans have been quite delighted with the game's performance and its lack of problems, some have encountered quite a few problems, including a rather pesky one for those outside of Europe or North America.

The exact error prevented them from playing Grand Theft Auto 5 on their PC if their Windows username had non-Latin characters in it. While a workaround was quickly confirmed by Rockstar, the studio has now released a full patch to eliminate this problem, according to Reddit users.

Said update is now available for download for GTA 5 on PC via both Steam and the Rockstar Social Club application. The Steam one weighs in at 207.5MB, while the Rockstar version comes in two parts, one that occupies around 53.79MB, and the second that clocks in at 352.75MB. It's unclear why the size is so different between the two versions.

Both patches take GTA 5 on PC to version 1.0.231.0 and seem to fix just the Windows username bug. Expect a changelog soon.
