Blizzard is announcing that it has made enough progress on the core elements of patch 2.2.0 for Diablo 3 to launch it on the Public Test Realms, which means that gamers can now test its core changes and can also offer feedback to the developers on how they can improve the update.

The official Battle.net post explains that gamers who are interested in taking part in the PTR need to have an account in good standing and also require access to the desktop app for the service.

They need to then create a new account which will be used only for testing and copy their character to it.

Blizzard adds, "Please note that you can only copy characters from one gameplay region at a time. If you choose to copy characters from a different region, any previously copied PTR characters will be lost. In addition, you can only copy characters over to your PTR account once every 24 hours."

All progress made with the characters on the PTR that are testing patch 2.2.0 for Diablo 3 will not be applied to the core game.

The studio has said that it wants to launch major updates between Seasons.
