Video game companies Bungie and Sony are announcing that gamers who own the PlayStation 4 version of Destiny will be able to play the social shooter against the band Imagine Dragons today, February 7, in the period between 12 and 2 PM Pacific Time.

The announcement explains that the Crucible mode will be played and that the musicians will be supported by some members of the PlayStation 4 team in their battles.

Gamers can watch the Imagine Dragons and Destiny action on the Twitch streaming service and those who tune in will be able to pick up a few prizes as well, including copies of the upcoming Smoke + Mirror album.

It will be interesting to see whether this is an one-off event or if the involved companies have long-term plans to continue to mix music and gaming in interesting ways.

Developer Bungie has recently revealed that it is planning to launch the House of Wolves expansion for Destiny during Q2 of the year.

Rumors are saying that it is designed to introduce about the same content as The Dark Below before it, which means an increased level cap, more gear for Guardians, at least one strike, and one big end-game raid will be delivered to fans.
