The next game might revisit World War 2, apparently

A brand new and quite massive report has appeared online, containing what seems to be a leaked promotional image for Call of Duty: World at War 2, the possible iteration in the first-person shooter series that's set to appear this fall.

Call of Duty games are now arriving from three different studios, as Activision wants to give its internal teams more time to properly flesh out the various shooter experiences. After getting Ghosts from Infinity Ward and Advanced Warfare from Sledgehammer Games, it's now time for Treyarch to release a game this year and show that it can still output great shooters.

Now, it seems that the actual announcement has been leaked well ahead of its intended reveal date.

As you can see in the image above, via Twitter account AnonymousUK2015, it confirms that Call of Duty: World at War II is going to be revealed on May 4 and that its presentation will be made "by Xbox," hinting at the continued partnership between Activision and Microsoft.

The date coincides with past reveals of Call of Duty games, and World at War 2 seems to be a direct sequel to one of Treyarch's older entries in the series, World at War, which focused on World War 2.

For the moment, however, take this report with a massive grain of salt, as a wide array of different things leak about new Call of Duty games. Ergo, it's probably better to wait and see what's going to be revealed by Activision and Treyarch in early May concerning the first-person shooter series.
