The development team at Relic and publisher SEGA are delivering a new video for Company of Heroes 2 – Ardennes Assault, which is designed to mark the 70th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge, on which the all new campaign of the standalone expansion is based.

The fight began in December of 1944 as the last reserves of the German Army for the Western Front, with new equipment but severely lacking in manpower, attacked through the snow-covered region, in bad weather conditions, in order to try and split Allied forces and reach Antwerp.

The United States forces were initially outnumbered and unprepared, but they managed to mount a solid defensive effort before they were relieved.

The Battle of the Bulge is seen as the moment when the fight on the Western Front was finally done, and it would end in 1945. The trailer captures its most important moments, with the attached infographic offering even more details.

In Ardennes Assault for Company of Heroes 2, players can take control of three of four companies, each with its own abilities and powers, and battle Nazi German forces in 18 new scenarios, some of them with dynamic objectives and others with story-based elements.

The new strategic map introduces more choices, and gamers who get the standalone expansion can also engage in multiplayer battles with those who own the original version of the game.
