The PS4 is set to receive a video chat service later this year, in the form of ooVoo, according to a CES 2014 announcement, finally putting the console on equal grounds with Microsoft's Xbox One, which boasted Skype support right from the get-go.

The PS4 and Xbox One launched back in November of 2013 and they both brought not just powerful hardware but also impressive games as well as quite a few different services and applications to enhance the whole experience.

Of course, Microsoft took advantage of the fact that it now owns Skype and brought the whole chat service to the Xbox One, while the PS4 was left without a solution for video conferences.

This, however, will soon change as popular service ooVoo confirms at CES 2014 through a new video that it's going to debut for the Sony console.

According to the representative of the service, the target release period is the final part of Q2, which means summer of this year, but no concrete release date can be given right now.

Surprises are in store for gamers, according to the representative, but right now the focus is on ensuring that the PS4 Camera will work flawlessly with the service. What's more, the application will allow players to watch live streams of other games during their own video conversations.
