The issue affects players on Xbox One who tried the game on EA Access and then purchased it, locking their progress

Some Xbox One owners are reporting being affected by a rather strange issue when enjoying the single-player portion of the recently released Battlefield: Hardline

Gamers who played the single-player campaign of Visceral Games' first-person shooter through EA Access are apparently required to restart episode one in order to be able to progress any further.

A lot of Xbox One owners tried out the prologue and first episode of Battlefield: Hardline on EA Access and then decided to buy the full game, only to find themselves stuck.

Publisher Electronic Arts has mentioned that a technical issue currently prevents players from progressing any further in the game, and advises those afflicted to restart the episode and play it once more, after which episode two and all the others will become available.

While this is unfortunate, the publisher has assured everyone that all weapon progression and ranking will not be affected, and will carry on as normal.

Note that if you select the "Restart Campaign" instead of the "Restart Episode" option in the menu, you will have to replay both the prologue and episode one, and all weapons and ranking progression achieved will be reset.

Battlefield Hardline replaces the military setting of the series with a more familiar setting, focusing on the war on crime, and letting gamers play cops and robbers in various urban environments.
