The new update adds fixes and support for ogg vorbis files

Fiio has rolled out its first official firmware update developed for the M3 ultra-portable music players, namely version 1.4, which adds a welcome screen to boot up animation, as well as support for Ogg Vorbis files.

In addition to that, this new release also includes an option that allows owners to listen to playlists and folders directly by holding menu button while highlighting the item and a few miscellaneous bug fixes.

However, take into account that version 1.4 is suitable for FiiO M3 devices that shipped out before Nov 25th; newer devices come with the new version already installed.

Therefore, if you intend to upgrade your audio player, first make sure to charge its battery completely. Also, you must load and play a song before initiating the upgrade.

With this in mind, download and unzip the downloadable archive, transfer the “M3.hex” file to the player’s root directory, start listening to a song, and press and hold the Menu button from the Now Playing screen.

Doing so will open a shortcuts menu from which you must select the cog icon at the bottom to enter settings, and from there just choose “Auto Upgrade,” and wait patiently. The M3 unit will automatically apply firmware 1.4 and reboot once finished.

That said, download FiiO M3 Portable Player Firmware 1.4, follow all instructions described above, install the new update, and check our website constantly to be aware when a newer version is available for download.
