The update adds Apollo Option to Odyssey7Q and Odyssey7Q+

Convergent Design has made available a new firmware package developed for its Odyssey7 series recorders, namely version 2015.12, which primarily adds Apollo support for the Odyssey7Q+ and Odyssey7Q models.

If you aren’t aware of this new option, know that Apollo is a paid upgrade option (also available for free in a demo mode) that gives users the ability to use Multi-Stream Monitoring, Recording, and Switching features.

To be more specific, this paid upgrade allows owners to record up to four HD Apple ProRes (HQ/422/LT), as well as a fifth Live-Switch or Quad-Split recording. Also, the feature supports four SDI or three SDI and one HDMI signals.

In addition to that, version 2015.12 improves playback without a connected source for all record modes and applies CD Apple ProRes Transfer Tool v2. Moreover, it adds support for Apollo Option Apple ProRes files and includes other minor fixes and updates.

As for the downsides, files recorded with firmware 2015.12 won’t be compatible with any previous firmware (and vice versa), and starting with this release, record spanning from SSD 2 back to SSD 1 will no longer be supported.

When it comes to installing this new update, it would be best if you referred to the instructions located in the downloadable archive and consider applying this release only when you have familiarized yourself with all the steps.

Therefore, download Convergent Design Odyssey7 Firmware 2015.12, carefully apply it on your recorder, and enjoy your newly improved device. Also, constantly check our website to stay “updated one minute ago.”
