Microsoft has made available the download link for its January 2016 Cumulative Firmware and Drivers package compatible with the Surface Book devices, which improves keyboard detection through the new 1.3.202.0 Surface DTX driver update.

In addition to that, this new release adds battery charging enhancements and thermal tuning via Surface Embedded Controller Firmware 88.899.256.0, and improves access point compatibility and throughput on 5Ghz networks thanks to Marvell’s Wireless Network Controller and Bluetooth driver update 15.68.9037.59.

Last but not least, users who bought a Surface Book unit with the optional NVIDIA GeForce GPU discrete graphics chip, benefit from a new NVIDIA GeForce GPU update (10.18.13.5914) that improves overall stability and possibly graphics performance.

As for installation, the present update can be applied by simply saving the downloadable archive and applying each driver/firmware directly on your Surface tablet. However, there is also an .msi file available that can be more helpful in case you want to install the full update instead of separate packages.

Moreover, once finished, it would be a good idea to perform a system reboot to allow all changes to take effect properly. If the device doesn’t restart itself automatically, make sure to carry out this task manually.

That said, download Microsoft Surface Book Firmware/Driver January 2016, install it, enjoy the new changes brought by this new release, and check our website as often as possible to stay “updated one minute ago.”
