The new release improves user-performance for workstations

Just now, Samsung has made available a new firmware package suitable for its 850 Pro SSD series, namely version EXM02B6Q, which improves user-performance for workstations and enhances compatibility with SATA 3Gb/s based systems.

Therefore, if you own an 850 Pro SSD and intend to benefit from these changes, you should definitely take into account upgrading the firmware on the device. For that, Samsung has provided two download files (one .ZIP archive and one .ISO file).

To be clear, the .ZIP file requires you to download and install Samsung Magician Software 4.5, and to use this tool along with the archive for upgrading your solid state drive.

If you don’t want to install any additional programs, then save the .ISO file and burn it onto a CD/DVD. This way you can install firmware EXM02B6Q on your SSD regardless of the operating system powering your PC, by booting from the optical drive under a DOS environment.

In other words, if you are a Windows user, you should follow the first described method, as it is an easier and safer way to update your SSD, even though the .ISO file can be used as well. For other users, however, the secong method is the only choice they have.

That being said, download Samsung 850 Pro SSD Firmware EXM02B6Q, carefully apply it on your solid state drive, and constantly check our website in order to stay “updated one minute ago”
