Today, Ricoh has released new firmware packages compatible with some of its digital cameras, namely versions 1.01, 1.10, and 1.20 for Pentax K-S2, K-S1, and K-3 devices, respectively, which should optimize overall stability, as well as general performance.

In addition to that, the new updates will improve performance when using the HD PENTAX-D FA 150-450mmF4.5-5.6ED DC AW or HD PENTAX-D FA 70-200mmF2.8ED DC AW super telephoto zoom lenses.

Apart from the Pentax K-S2 camera, the other two imaging units also receive enhancements for the HD PENTAX-DA 18-50mmF4-5.6 DC WR RE standard zoom lens.

Moreover, when using the Pentax K-3 or K-S1 devices along with the first mentioned lens model, you will be able to properly make use of the AF button and preset button function.

Considering all aspects described above, if you intend to upgrade your camera, first of all go to Menu > Set-up 4 > Firmware Info > Options, and make sure the currently installed firmware isn’t newer or matching the present release.

If all is ok, save and extract the downloadable archive, transfer the .bin file onto a formatted memory card, and insert it into your Pentax unit. Afterwards, power on the device while pressing MENU so that the device can enter update mode (from there, just follow the displayed instructions).

With this in mind, from the links below, follow the one best describing your specific camera model, get and apply its latest firmware, and enjoy the changes this new release brings about.
