A few moments ago, Panasonic has released the 3.01-00-0.02 firmware version targeted at its VariCam 35 and HS cameras, which adds compatibility with AVC-Intra444 (HD), AVC-Intra200 (HD), and Apple ProRes HQ (HD) VFR 1-120p/1-100p formats.

In addition to that, this new update also includes new features, such as Water Mark, False Color, Noise Reduction, Fan Speed (Match Codec), Interval, One Shot, and PreREC.

Moreover, version 3.01-00-0.02 also allows VFR (up to 60p) recording in SUB and gives owners the ability to select the aspect for MON OUT (4K/2K).

Besides the aforementioned changes, the VariCam HS unit can also assign focus assist functions to the LENS RET-SW USER button, while Panasonic’s VariCam 35 device receives support for AVC-Intra2K 444 (2K) format, as well as for Low ISO and LDS Lens Data functions.

In terms of installation, you must save and extract the downloadable archive, copy the newly-created “PRIVATE” folder onto a formatted SD card, insert it into your VariCam device, and make sure to disconnect the viewfinder.

Now, go to INFO > VERSION > UPDATE screen, select “Ok,” and simply wait patiently for the new firmware to be applied, as this process can take up to 60 minutes at worst. Also, bear in mind that this package will upgrade the recording module to version 3.01-00-0.07 as well.

That being said, download Panasonic VariCam 35/HS Firmware 3.01-00-0.02, carefully apply it on your imaging unit, and enjoy the changes that this new release brings about.
