Intel has just announced the availability of a new BIOS developed for its NUC5i5MYHE and NUC5i5MYBE NUC kits and boards, respectively, namely version 0018, which fixes the null User Password issue, as well as other problems.

Specifically speaking, this new release also changes the default IGD Minimum Memory to 64MB, modifies the default year to 2015, and fixes the improper NFC behavior where GPIO Lockdown was disabled and greyed out when this feature was enabled in BIOS settings.

When it comes to the contents of this package, Intel’s update includes ME firmware 10.0.30.1072, TXT ACM revision 1.2, as well as integrated Graphics Option ROM (Build 1035) and Graphics UEFI driver (version 5.5.1031).

In addition to that, BIOS 0018 contains Intel’s 13.5.0.2164 RST RAID variant, the iSCSI boot and PXE ROMs 3.0.34 and 1.5.55, respectively, and most importantly the 2.2.14 Visual BIOS revision.

As for the installation methods, the producer has provided 4 downloadable packages describing different way to upgrade to the present version, namely Recovery, iFlash, and Express BIOS Update files.

In order to be clear, iFlash archive can apply BIOS 0018 through a DOS command prompt, while the Recovery .BIO package can perform the same task via an F6 update method but can also recover the BIOS left in an unusable state.

Last but not least, the Express BIOS Update executables (one for each bit variant) are to be used only on NUC devices powered by Microsoft’s Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 operating systems.

With this in mind, download Intel NUC5i5MYHE NUC Kit BIOS 0018 or download Intel NUC5i5MYBE NUC Board BIOS 0018, carefully apply it on your unit, and check our website as often as possible to be aware when newer versions are available for your device.
