The new release fixes CIR remote and SMBIOS issues

Intel has just made available its 0247 BIOS version compatible with NUC5i3RYH, NUC5i3RYK, NUC5i5RYH, NUC5i5RYK, and NUC5i7RYH NUC kits, which includes new BIOS options, as well as fixes.

Specifically speaking, this new version adds the ability to enable/disable Wake from S3, S4, or S5 via CIR from the Secondary Power Settings page, and allows selecting the CIR Remote Controller Type in Legacy Device Config settings.

In addition to that, Intel’s update fixes the problem with CIR remote that would fail in OpenELEC, as well as the one where SMBIOS manufacturer and model weren’t displayed properly in MSINFO32 and other applications.

Therefore, if you consider applying this BIOS package, first of all you must save the appropriate file for your NUC model and operating system, as Intel has provided 4 different files: Recovery, iFlash, and Express BIOS Updates (2 executables).

Just to be clear, while the iFlash BIOS Update archive can only apply version 0247 via a DOS command prompt, the Recovery package is also able to perform a recovery process if the upgrade hasn’t been successful

Last but not least, the two Express BIOS Updates executables (one for each bit variant of Windows 7, 8, and 8.1), which describe the commonly-used installation method, should only be run from their compatible OSes.

That being said, from the links below, follow the one best describing your NUC kit model, save the desired file, and carefully upgrade your device’s BIOS version. Also, check our website as often as possible in order to be aware when a newer version is available.
