Today, Fractal Audio has made available a new firmware package developed for its Axe-Fx II preamplifiers, namely version 18.04, which is compatible with Axe-Fx II XL, XL Plus, Mark I, and Mark II devices and includes changes that improve overall stability and performance.

Specifically speaking, this new update resolves the wrong Crunch default values and associated constants spotted on Angle Severe amp models, as well as the Pedal Compressor types that wouldn’t compensate for compression amount (manual level compensation was required).

In addition to that, firmware 18.04 also fixes a problem regarding drive network high-pass filter that didn’t properly reset values when switching between certain devices.

Last but not least, Fractal Audio’s announcement also highlights that Preamp Tube Type parameter has been added to Amp block. This addition benefits from 3 options, namely “Modern” (default), “Vintage,” and “Long Plate,” which replicate different triodes.

As for applying the present version, first install the latest Fractal Audio Axe-Fx II USB Driver (if not already present), download the proper package for your device, and finally use a recent Fractal-Bot Utility to apply this new firmware.

That being said, download Fractal Axe-Fx II Firmware 18.04 for your specific preamp, apply the new software on it, and enjoy your newly-improved audio effects processor. Also, constantly check our website in order to be aware when newer versions are available.
