Canon Provides New Firmware for Some of Its Network Cameras

Canon has just rolled out a new firmware update compatible with several of its surveillance products, namely version 1.1.0, which adds a new menu option and fixes a memory card recording issue.

Before highlighting any changes, you should know that this release is targeted at the following producer’s network cameras: VB-M42, VB-M42B, VB-M620D, VB-M620VE, VB-M720F, VB-H43, VB-H43B, VB-H630D, VB-H630VE, and VB-H730F.

For all these models, firmware 1.1.0 adds a new menu setting in order to allow voiding time check during WS-Security authentication, and fixes the issue where recording on the memory card would stop when the power is interrupted and then restored.

In addition to that, Canon’s VB-M42, VB-M42B, VB-H43, and VB-H43B devices also receive an improved security level in order to reduce unauthorized PTZ control.

When it comes to installing this release, since the process’ complexity is above average, it would be a good idea to save and run the appropriate file for your camera model, and carefully review the update manual provided within the newly-created folder.

Keep in mind that each downloadable executable should work well on Microsoft’s Windows Vista, 7, 8, 8.1, and Server 2008 operating systems (both 32- and 64-bit variants), but can also be used under 64-bit variants of Windows Server 2008, 2008 R2, 2012, and 2012 R2 platforms.
