The new release updates OpenSSL library to 1.0.0q

ASUS has just outed a new firmware version targeted at some of its routers, namely build 376.3861 compatible with RT-N66R, RT-N66W, RT-AC66R, RT-AC66W, and RT-AC66U models, which includes fixes that improves overall performance and security.

Specifically speaking, this new update removes the CVE-2013-1813 BusyBox common vulnerability and exposure, upgrades OpenSSL library to version 1.0.0q, adds Movistar profile in IPTV setting page, and resolves XSS vulnerability on page “Main_Analysis_Content.asp”.

When it comes to applying version 376.3861, first of all check your currently installed firmware and make sure it isn’t either newer or matching this release.

If it’s now, save and unzip the appropriate package for your specific router model, establish a wired connection between it and your computer, and log into its administration page using the username and password.

Now, click on the firmware version, hit the “Browse” button, navigate and select the newly-extracted .trx firmware file, click “Upload,” and wait patiently for your device to do its job.

Bear in mind that, while installing, you mustn’t power off any of the devices or remove their power/Ethernet cable. Doing so will lead to an update failure, which can also cause serious device malfunctions. Once the upgrade has finished, your ASUS router will automatically reboot.

That being said, download ASUS RT-AC66 Router Firmware 3.0.0.4.376.3861 or download ASUS RT-N66 Router Firmware 3.0.0.4.376.3861, follow all aspects described above, and upgrade your device’s software to the latest version.
