Just now, ASUS has announced the availability of new firmware packages developed for some of its wireless routers, which resolve the infosvr, as well as cross-site request forgery security issues.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with the glitches, this infosvr problem, also known as CVE-2014-9583 (Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures), wouldn’t allow common.c to properly check the MAC address for a request.

However, even though this vulnerability was already resolved in AsusWrt-Merlin Custom Firmware 3.0.0.4.376.49.5, at the moment, the present update is targeted at a different set of devices, namely ASUS’s RT-N10U and DSL-N55U, N55U (VER.B1), AC68R, and AC68U router models.

To be more specific about this release, the producer has made available firmware version 3.0.0.4.376.3754 for its RT-N10U device, 3.0.0.4.376.2736 for DSL-N55U and DSL-N55U (VER.B1) routers, as well as build 3.0.0.4.376.2160 compatible with DSL-AC68R and DSL-AC68U models.

As for installing these updates, simply save and extract the appropriate archive for your specific router model, log into your device’s administration page, and go to the Firmware Upgrade section.

From there, navigate and select the newly-unzipped .trx file, initiate the installation process, and patiently wait for it to complete. Bear in mind that interrupting this task can cause serious device malfunctions.
