Yesterday Imagination Technologies issued a press release to announce that 2016 would be the year of the MIPS (Microprocessor without Interlocked Pipeline Stages) hardware architectures, which is used in the company's development boards.

The bold announcement was made during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2016 event, which takes place these days between January 6 and 9 in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, where Imagination Technologies is present with the latest developments, as well as the progress the company has made in driving widespread adoption of its MIPS family of microprocessors.

"Our accelerated IP core roadmap and product delivery means that 2016 will be ‘the year of MIPS’, marking a turning point in recognition and adoption for MIPS as the leading alternative CPU for automotive, consumer, IoT and more," says Jim Nicholas, VP of MIPS business operations at Imagination Technologies.

The MIPS Warrior line of CPUs will get a boost in 2016

For 2016, Imagination Technologies promises to boost their line of MIPS Warrior CPUs, which are currently being shipped to various markets, including Internet of Things, communications and embedded, as well as to further improve and develop new features for their mature ecosystem of software and tools for MIPS.

If you are at CES 2016, go to Imagination Technologies' booth to see why 2016 will be the year of MIPS. There, the hardware company will show various demonstrations to its customers who want to see the MIPS CPUs in action and understand the difference between other architectures.

Based on unique features like hardware multi-threading and OmniShield multi-domain security, Imagination Technologies' line of MIPS Warrior microprocessors is the best thing that ever happened to development boards since ARM. MIPS will be the perfect choice for SoC companies that want to build unique and powerful devices. More details can be found in the press release attached below.
