The young man cannot afford actual medical treatment, has turned to fire to rid his body of cancerous cells

A couple of years back, a young man in China's Yunnan Province started feeling ill and went to see a doctor. He was told that he had leukemia and that his best hope to get better was to undergo a bone-marrow transplant.

Although money was tight, the man, named Jia Binhui, somehow managed to get enough cash to pay for the procedure, which cost him $80,000 (€75,600).

Unfortunately, this bone-marrow transplant failed to cure Jia Binhui's leukemia. Instead, medical experts told him that he still had cancer cells in his body and needed hospitalization and further treatments.

Having already spent a whole lot of money on the bone marrow transplant, the young man had no choice but abandon the idea that doctors could treat him and return home.

Still, he didn't give up on the idea of fighting cancer and winning. Since he couldn't afford actual medical treatment, he decided to try and treat his leukemia himself by regularly roasting himself in his backyard.

The man even built a barbecue for himself

The bizarre contraption that Jia Binhui is shown resting on in the photos accompanying this article is the 25-year-old leukemia sufferer's own barbecue.

The man designed and built the contraption himself in an attempt to cure his disease by roasting himself over hot coals. Apparently, the 25-year-old believes that if he gets hot enough the cancer cells in his body will simply die.

“They say experts believe a temperature higher than 42 degrees Celsius [about 108 degrees Fahrenheit] can kill cancer cells, so I set up a contraption in my backyard to try,” he said in an interview, as cited by Oddity Central.

The leukemia sufferer has been roasting himself for as long at he can handle for several weeks now. Since he hasn't yet had the chance to see a doctor, he has no idea whether his odd treatment method has produced any results.

Even so, 25-year-old Jia Binhui is convinced that he's doing the right thing and hopes that, when he finally goes to see a doctor, he'll receive some good news for a change.
