Chinese company ZTE promised to conquer the US market with powerful, yet affordable Android smartphones. The launch of the Zenfone 2 marked the beginning of the assault for Asus, as the company has a few more aces up its sleeve.

One of those aces is called ZTE Axon and will be introduced in the United States on July 14. The Chinese company has already sent invitations for the launch event and it's also holding a contest that customers can participate and win an Axon phone at its microsite, as well as $10,000.

Although ZTE did not reveal the price for which the Axon would be available for purchase, the contest where participants can win the smartphone states the value of the prize is about $450.

This means that the ZTE Axon might be available in the United States for just $450 outright. Perhaps the company will also run a few promotions where the smartphone will be offered a bit cheaper, but the outright price should be around that amount.

It's further worth mentioning that ZTE Axon will be available for purchase in different colors such as: Phthalo Blue, Ion Gold and Chromium Silver.

4K video support is promised, too

Unfortunately, we don't know too many things about ZTE Axon's specs sheet. The Chinese company confirmed the smartphone would come with no less than 4GB of RAM, which is a common trait for top-of-the-line handsets.

We also know that Axon will come with dual-lens camera, but the number of megapixels is unknown for the moment.

Obviously, we expect it to ship with Android Lollipop operating system right out of the box, though we don't know what version of Lollipop Axon will run.

We expect more details on the ZTE Axon in the coming weeks, but judging by the specs we know of, it should be one of the company's most advanced devices.
