Indian company XOLO must be very proud of its Hive UI for Android smartphone that it has decided to include it in all products, including those very cheap.

The latest addition to the XOLO's portfolio of Android smartphones is called 8X-1000i, which isn't something too catchy that customers might remember easily when going shopping.

According to a new report, the XOLO 8X-1000i is now available for purchase in India for just Rs 6,999 ($105 / €95) off contract. That usually isn't a high price, but considering the 8X-1000i specs, more than $100 seems overpriced.

In fact, one of the things that put it out of consideration is the fact that it comes with Android 4.4 KitKat operating system, which is pretty old even for an affordable smartphone.

Keep in mind that based on this price tier, the XOLO 8X-1000i should be a mid-range smartphone, not an entry-level device.

Moving on to the actual specs, XOLO's new Android smartphone runs the company's proprietary Hive UI. It also sports a 5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution and features Corning Gorilla Glass 3 coating.

Only 2-megapixel camera in the front and no 4G LTE support

On the inside, the smartphone comes equipped with a 1.4GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6592M processor, a Mali 450-MP4 graphics processing unit and 2GB of RAM.

Furthermore, XOLO 8X-1000i packs 16GB of internal memory, but users can expand storage up to 32GB via microSD card slot.

There's also an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, which features autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording. The 8X-1000i comes with a modest 2-megapixel camera in the front.

Connectivity-wise, XOLO's smartphone lacks 4G LTE, but users will benefit from other options like 3G, dual-SIM, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, microUSB 2.0 and GPS with AGPS support.

Last but not least, XOLO 8X-1000i is powered by a 2,000 mAh battery inside, which hasn't been rated by the manufacturer yet.
