Chinese company Xiaomi is expected to launch its new flagship smartphone, the Mi5, later this year. But the Mi5 won't come alone, as the OEM also plans to introduce an enhanced version that will be dubbed Xiaomi Mi5 Pro.

Although they will have different specs, some will be kept similar such as the chipset inside. Both Xiaomi smartphones are expected to come equipped with Qualcomm's upcoming Snapdragon 820 chipset that hasn't yet been released on the market.

However, word is that Xiaomi might have to delay the launch of these two high-end smartphones due to the overheating issues plaguing the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset.

PhoneArena reports that Xiaomi wants to make sure that the Snapdragon 820 removes all these issues that affect most of the smartphones equipped with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 chipset.

It's hard to say for how long it's been delayed

Well, that can't be achieved until the Snapdragon 820 becomes commercially available on the market. Even though Xiaomi wanted to be the first to add the new chipset into its products, it looks like safety is preferred in this case.

It's hard to say how long the Xiaomi Mi5 and Mi5 Pro will be delayed since this depends on when Qualcomm releases the Snapdragon 820 chipset on the market.

The Chinese company is already using some kind of patented thermal controls to avoid any overheating issues inside of Mi Note Pro which is equipped with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 processor.

It's unclear how efficient these patents are, but if Xiaomi did indeed delay the Mi5 and Mi5 Pro for this reason, then it means they aren't that effective.

Keep in mind that Xiaomi has yet to confirm the delay of its flagship smartphone, which, in fact, might never happen since the Chinese company did not announce when the Mi5 would be unveiled.
