After announcing the release of the iOS 9.1 software update for iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch devices, Apple has had the great pleasure of publishing the final release of the highly anticipated Xcode 7.1 IDE (Integrated Development Environment) software.

Xcode 7.1 is a dream become reality for Apple developers around the world who want the best IDE for their Mac computers to build and design the most awesome apps for watchOS, iOS, OS X, and tvOS operating systems. Best of all, with Xcode 7.1, it's possible to test your apps on your iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Apple TV devices for free, just by using your Apple ID and a Lightning cable.

The new release has lots of great features, but first, let's take a look at what's inside, as Xcode 7.1 includes the new Swift 2.1 next-generation programming language, as well as SDKs (Software Development Kits) for the recently released iOS 9.1, watchOS 2.0.x, OS X 10.11.x El Capitan operating systems, and the upcoming tvOS for the fourth-gen Apple TV.

Here's what's new in Xcode 7.1

Prominent features of Xcode 7.1 include support for many of the functions of the tvOS operating system for Apple TV, including playgrounds, storyboards, crash logs, and user interface testing, and unit testing, support for 3D Touch gestures, and improvements to the XCPlayground API (Application Programming Interface) for playground authors.

Furthermore, there's now a new workflow that lets developers add a device for testing and development of apps. To enable it, go to Window, access the Devices section, and click on the + button. The newly introduced Swift 2.1 programming language will work better with C code.

Last but not least, there's support for Apple's new two-factory authentication for Apple ID accounts, and the debugger has an improved view of Auto Layout constraints. Xcode 7.1 is available for free for everyone running the latest version of the Mac OS X operating system and can be installed from the Mac App Store. Alternatively, you can download the Xcode 7.1 installer right now from Softpedia.
