The team at Microsoft in charge of the Xbox One might be focused on the big titles that will arrive for the home console this autumn, but it is also keen to deliver new entertainment applications for it, catering to the various passions of the user base.

A new version of the NFL app for the hardware is now available, and the team in charge of it, led by Director of Sports Marketing Jeff Tran, says that it has added a range of new features to expand the immersion of the fans.

Next-gen stats are now offered, allowing those passionate about American football to get details about the speed of their tracked athletes and the distance they traveled.

The app also has support for enhanced highlights, tweaks the viewing angles to see the performance of each player and uses maps to see exactly how a player moves in the various plays a team uses.

Real-time updates for scores, fantasy highlights and management options improve the way virtual football leagues can be enjoyed.

The NFL Xbox One app is also introducing more notifications and better highlights reels, which give each user a chance to make sure that they get only the information and content that they want about teams and players.

Microsoft is also revealing a new Pick'em contest

Gamers will be able to make predictions about the next-gen stats each week for the entire season in order to take part in a special contest.

Those who are the most accurate will be able to get signed memorabilia from the National Football League and maybe even tickets to the Super Bowl in 2016.

Microsoft says that it plans to work with the NFL during the season to deliver more options for fans and to celebrate the 50 years of existence of the current American football setup.

Gamers can currently pick up Madden NFL 16 right now in order to recreate the best matches or to get through multiple seasons with their favorite team.

The game is offered on both the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 and has just received a major first title update from the development team at EA Sports.
