The team at Microsoft in charge of the Preview program associated with the Xbox One is announcing that the initiative is nearing full capacity and they are planning to slow down integration of new members in order to make sure that it runs smoothly for those who are already part of it.

Emily Hanson, one of the managers of the service, states on the official forums that "With that in mind, we are slowing the number of new people we are accepting to optimize for testing. We are thankful for the amount of interest we’ve received to date and look forward to sharing more details on preview opportunities soon."

The Preview program for the Xbox One allows gamers to get firmware updates for the home consoles earlier than the general public in order to test them and deliver feedback that Microsoft can integrate before all customers get it.

The company is not saying how many gamers are at the moment part of it and whether it plans to evaluate their involvement in order to make sure that those who are accepted actually contribute to the future of the platform.

Microsoft has been saying that, at some point, the Preview program might get access to testing versions of some internally created titles, although no concrete plans have been announced so far.

Xbox One is getting a big update in November

During the month, Microsoft wants to launch a massive firmware update for the home console that is designed to introduce backwards compatibility, allowing gamers to play video games that were initially offered on the Xbox 360, as long as publishers grant permission.

At the same time, the Xbox One is getting a big revamp of its user interface, which is designed to make it easier for players to find content and connect with their friends.

Microsoft is also planning to further integrate the home consoles and PCs that are running Windows 10, making it easier for those who have both to seamlessly access content and stream their activity.

At the moment, the Xbox One is lagging behind the PlayStation 4 in terms of worldwide sales, but the situation might change during the very important coming fall shopping season, when the console receives Forza Motorsport 6, Halo 5: Guardians, and Rise of the Tomb Raider.
