The old Halo title might also arrive on Xbox One soon enough

Microsoft's Phil Spencer, the head of the Xbox division, confirms that he'd like to see the old Halo Reach title arrive on the Xbox One via the upcoming backwards compatibility feature. As such, it's unlikely that it will receive a proper remaster, like those for Halo 1, 2, 3, 4, and ODST via The Master Chief Collection.

The Halo series is a huge one for Microsoft and the large corporation is currently getting ready to debut the all-new Halo 5: Guardians onto the Xbox One at the end of October.

However, this isn't the franchise's first foray onto the Xbox One. Microsoft and 343 Industries launched last year the special Halo: The Master Chief Collection, which included remastered versions of Halo 1, 2, 3, and 4. Later on, during the spring of this year, they also released Halo ODST's story campaign for free, as an apology for the many different issues encountered by The Master Chief Collection at launch.

Halo Reach might appear via backwards compatibility

Now, seeing as how there's just one other shooter entry in the Halo series that hasn't arrived on the Xbox One, fans are beginning to wonder if Halo Reach is going to appear on the new console.

While answering such a question on Twitter, Microsoft's Phil Spencer says that he'd love to see Halo Reach on the Xbox One via the upcoming backwards compatibility system. This means that the odds of seeing Halo Reach as another remastered DLC for Halo: The Master Chief Collection are slim to none.

Microsoft already mentioned that the backwards compatibility feature is going to arrive on the Xbox One later this fall, alongside the New Xbox One Experience update, which also includes a new Windows 10-based operating system, DirectX 12, and much more.

It's already revealed that a lot of older Xbox 360 titles will be available via backwards compatibility at launch, but it didn't mention anything about Halo Reach being amongst them.
