Users claim the store no longer works correctly on WP

Windows 10 Mobile might be just around the corner, but there are still lots of users out there running Windows Phone 8.1 and waiting for the final bits of the new OS.

And it’s these users the ones experiencing issues in the store, as searching for apps and downloading no longer seems to work since earlier today.

Details from Microsoft aren’t obviously available as the company is yet to acknowledge the problem publicly, but we’re getting lots of reports from our readers who claim that the Windows Phone store no longer works correctly and in most of the cases, the search feature doesn’t return any results.

Typing any possible keyword in the search box brings back no application, with some users telling us that rebooting the phone actually helps in some cases – although this is very unlikely because it’s all a server-side issue, so our devices are not at fault.

App downloads

While the search feature is slowly coming back for a number of affected phones, it appears that others are experiencing problems when trying to download apps.

Selecting an app and hitting the install button brings up an error saying that the “app needs your attention” and hitting the retry button over and over again doesn’t make any difference. This, however, doesn’t seem to be a widespread problem so not a lot of people are seeing it, but Microsoft is most likely already looking into the problem, and a fix should be provided very soon.

It’s worth mentioning that the Windows 10 Mobile store appears to be working perfectly fine, with no issues experienced when searching for apps using its built-in feature or downloading new items.

It remains to be seen how fast Microsoft manages to repair these problems impacting the Windows Phone store, but we’ll keep you updated with any information or workaround that we might come across in the next few hours.
