Windows 10 Threshold 2 is expected to launch anytime soon, and while some sources suggested it was originally projected to debut on November 10, it turns out that this information either wasn’t entirely accurate or Microsoft changed the date at the very last minute.

Now rumor has it that Microsoft is planning to unveil Threshold 2 on November 12, which is on Thursday, only two days after the company released the Patch Tuesday updates.

The reason is as simple as it could be: Microsoft didn’t want to mess security updates with Threshold 2 because, for Windows 10 users, that would be a lot to install for one day, so Redmond preferred to hold back the release for another two days to make sure the process goes smoothly.

Already available for insiders

Even though the public release is still in queue, Windows insiders have already received the Threshold 2 update in the form of build 10586, which includes pretty much all the changes that everyone else will get when Microsoft pushes the green button.

Basically, all features that are included in Threshold 2 have already been tested by Windows insiders in the last few months, so those who have been part of the program won’t be impressed with the release.

Features such as a fourth Start menu live tile column, Cortana improvements, Microsoft Edge synchronization features across devices, new personalization options, and many others will all be part of Threshold 2.

The new release will be offered as a cumulative update and will become the new default for Windows 10, which means that those on Windows 7 and 8.1 who upgrade to the new OS version will get directly to Threshold 2. At the same time, users who purchase new computers with Windows 10 should also get TH2, although it could take a while until stocks of devices currently running the build 10240 are cleared out.
