Microsoft has restored the original ISOs for TH2

Microsoft has recently restored the original Windows 10 Threshold 2 ISOs that it removed during the weekend, thus making it possible for users looking for a clean install to perform it without turning to files hosted elsewhere.

Basically, starting today, anyone can download the Windows 10 Threshold 2 ISOs using either the Media Creation Tool, which also includes further options or through TechBench, which gives them access to direct links.

All versions now restored

Microsoft removed the November Update 2 ISOs and thus made this version available exclusively via Windows Update, but we’ve heard from readers that the company actually pulled this channel too, so almost no one received the new Windows 10 version in the last few days.

But starting today, these ISOs are again up for grabs, and Microsoft removed all the notices from the download page, now encouraging people to use the Media Creation Tool to upgrade their systems.

“If you need to install or reinstall Windows 10 using a USB or DVD, you can use the media creation tool below to create your own installation media with either a USB flash drive or a DVD. The tool provides file formats optimized for download speed and can be used to create ISO files,” Microsoft says.

Previously, a notification posted on this website informed that whoever downloads Windows 10 with the Media Creation Tool can’t get directly to Threshold 2, but only to build 10240 RTM released in July to all users.

Starting today, everything’s back to normal though, and we’ve reached out to Microsoft for more information on what exactly happened that it decided to pull the plug on Windows 10 Threshold 2 ISOs completely. People close to the matter speculated that it was all because of an activation bug that made it impossible for users to validate their clean installs performed with the ISO.
