The Russian Dexp Ixion W 5 might get an XL variant

The largest Windows Phone handset, Lumia 1520, sports a 6-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution and features Corning Gorilla Glass 2 coating.

But that might change in the not-so-distant future as Russian OEM Dexp is likely to launch an even bigger Windows Phone phablet.

Since the company has not confirmed the information yet, file this under rumors. It looks like a new device has recently popped up at GFXBench, and judging by the specs revealed, it will be the largest phablet powered by Windows 10 Mobile.

The device is listed as Dexp Ixion W 5, which is a smartphone debuted by a Russian company. Even though this particular handset sporting a 5-inch display and running Windows Phone is already available for purchase in Russia, the OEM is expected to launch a larger variant.

That's because the prototype listed at GFXBench boasts a huge 6.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display though with a low HD (720p) resolution, which is specific to affordable smartphones rather than high-end ones.

Disappointing hardware on all fronts

Also, the device is confirmed to pack an Adreno 305 graphics processing unit and an unnamed quad-core processor. However, considering the rest of the specs, there's a high chance that this is a low-end Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 CPU.

Furthermore, the XL version of Dexp Ixion W 5 will pack 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory, which is not surprising since this is a low-end phablet.

The 13-megapixel rear-facing camera is listed with 480p video recording support, but that might be a mistake since the photo snapper seems powerful enough to capture better video. Also, the smartphone is said to pack another 5-megapixel camera on the front for video calls and selfies.

Although the huge phablet's OS is shown as Windows Phone, we believe the smartphone will be released with Windows 10 Mobile onboard. Otherwise, we don't see the point.
