The companies announced a new partnership back in March to bring Windows 10 Mobile to Xiaomi smartphone users. The project involved a limited number of Xiaomi forum users that could test Microsoft’s new mobile platform on their Mi4 smartphones.
After many months of testing, it looks like Xiaomi and Microsoft are now ready to launch the final version of Windows 10 Mobile for Mi4 devices.
We reported last week that a Xiaomi Mi4 with Windows 10 Mobile might be released in November, but it looks like the Chinese company had something else in mind.
Today, Xiaomi's VP Bin Lin posted on Weibo a picture of the Mi4 running Windows 10 Mobile. The picture also confirms that Windows 10 Mobile for Xiaomi Mi4 will be released on December 3.
The good news is that not just beta testers but anyone owning a Xiaomi Mi4 will be able to flash Windows 10 Mobile on their devices.
Build 10586 is stable and smooth
Speaking of which, word is that all beta testers have already flashed Windows 10 Mobile build 10586 on their Xiaomi Mi4 devices, which is relatively stable and smooth. This is why this particular version will be forwarded to release for the public in early December.
Unfortunately, not all Xiaomi Mi4 owners will be able to flash Windows 10 Mobile on their devices. According to the Chinese company, only the LTE version of the Mi4 will be compatible with this build.
Still, Xiaomi stated that 3G models would also be compatible with Windows 10 Mobile, but owners will have to wait a while longer.
