Microsoft has recently rolled out Windows 10 build 10158 to users enrolled in the fast ring of the Windows Insider program, thus providing them with the option to test out the refinements in the latest version of Windows 10.

On top of that, Microsoft has also released a matching version of the Windows 10 Mobile emulator. And with both the latest SDK and emulator, apps will be able to access the latest Windows capabilities and APIs in the newest builds.

You might remember that, back at WinHec, Microsoft confirmed that it would finally bring slow-motion video recording to Windows Phone. Well, now, thanks to the latest emulator build of Windows 10 Mobile 10158, we get to see that the new camera app features the ability to record video up to 120 fps (as spotted on Reddit).

Note that, at this point, we’re not exactly sure whether this feature will work on all Windows 10 Mobile devices or it will be limited only to models running on high-end hardware.

Some new features spotted in the latest emulator

The emulator has also revealed that the camera will feature Rich Capture by default and transparent live tiles for Store and Edge, instead of the default blue color.

Very smooth transition for opening and switching apps has also been observed. Furthermore, the People app’s live tile now makes use of circles where your contact’s pics roll around. No more square tiles that flip.

The volume slider is now rounded and the Music and Photos app have received an update.

Microsoft is prepping a full set of new functions to be added to Windows 10 Mobile, which will hopefully help it better compete with iOS and Android.

For example, we’ve recently told you that in Windows 10 Mobile the front-facing camera will arrive bundled with a face-tracking tool. This means that the camera will be able to detect the face of the person being photographed and maintain focus on it.

On top of that, we’ve also heard that Windows 10 Mobile might make the limit for cellular downloads obsolete, a feature that will surely be appreciated by those with an unlimited data plan.

For the time being, the exact date of release of Windows 10 Mobile remains quite elusive, but word on the street would have us believe that we could see the new mobile OS make a debut sometimes in September. Although much might change until then.
