Only the desktop background is supported for now

Giving users more customization power should be Microsoft's top priority in Windows 10, and at some level, the company has already acknowledged that.

So in addition to all the important changes that Microsoft's making in every new Windows 10 build, the software giant's also implementing more subtle tweaks that could give users a more advanced way to change the default configuration of the OS.

For instance, Windows 10 build 10547 comes with an option that finally allows you to use the Windows background picture on the sign-in screen, which means that the hero wallpaper will replace the solid accent color.

For the moment, only this background picture is supported, but there's no doubt that Microsoft is working to enhance this functionality and add more options in future updates.

Third-party apps

As it usually happens in Windows, Microsoft needs more time to develop and introduce new features in the operating system, but at the same time, third-party software makers work on similar projects that can offer the same functionality.

In our case, apps to replace the login screen in Windows 10 are already available, and fortunately, they are extremely easy to use, which means that a different photo can be configured with just a few clicks. That's actually how every app should work in Windows 10, but it's no secret that many prefer to have an option that would do exactly the same thing directly integrated into the operating system.

One such app is the so-called Windows 10 Login Background Changer, which has a pretty self-explanatory name, so give it a try if you're looking for more customization power in Windows 10.

Keep in mind that the aforementioned option is only available in build 10547, so it could take a while until Microsoft makes it available in Windows 10 RTM. If testing goes according to plan, that could happen anytime in the next couple of months.
