Windows Spotlight is one of the new features added by Microsoft in Windows 10, but previously, this feature was only available for Home users due to an odd decision of the company to remove it from the Pro SKUs during the Windows Insider program.

But the latest version of Windows 10 that Microsoft has released as part of the same program has finally brought it back to Pro users after months of absence.

This means that, right now, both Windows 10 Home and Pro users can set up Windows Spotlight, but keep in mind that this feature is still part of the Windows Insider program and cannot be used by those who are still on 10240, which is the RTM version of the OS.

If you’re a tester and running build 10547, here’s where you can find Windows Spotlight:

Settings > Personalization > Lock screen > Background

What is Windows Spotlight?

Windows Spotlight is a new Windows 10 feature that Microsoft introduced earlier this year as a way to get a more personalized experience on the lock screen.

Generally, it’s a feature that automatically changes your lock screen wallpaper using the Bing homepage photo of the day, but also lets you choose which one you like and which one you don’t. Additionally, it can show app recommendations from the store, which has made many people claim that Microsoft’s bringing ads on the lock screen and thus invading users with unwanted content.

On the other hand, Redmond claims that users are allowed to control what they want to see on their lock screens, so depending on their votes, they can get suggestions that are more relevant for their activities.

At this point, there’s no timing for the debut of Windows Spotlight in the stable builds of Windows 10, but expect this to happen sometime in the coming months.
