Microsoft has tried to improve Windows 10 in every possible way, so the change log of the new operating system includes pretty much everything from new apps and desktop features to more customization colors and fresh emoji.

And as far as the emojis are concerned, Microsoft tried to bring Windows 10 in line with the other software solutions or services out there that are currently using them.

As a result, the new operating system now comes with a larger collection of emoji, which also includes the famous middle finger, as well as new diverse pack that lets you choose the skin color of the smiley faces you send to your contacts.

This feature was already available in other online services, such as WhatsApp, so Microsoft’s now making them available in Windows 10 to make it easier for its users to chat with friends online.

For the moment, the new diverse emojis are available only in Windows 10 build 10547, which is actually the latest version the company shipped to Windows insiders. In the future, the company is very likely to roll them out to users of the stable version too, but no ETA is available right now.

How to access the new emoji

If you’re already on Windows 10 build 10547 and want to check out the new emoji, you first have to enable the touch keyboard on your desktop. That’s right, the touch keyboard, which makes more sense on touch-capable devices, is the only way to use emoji even if you’re on a PC with a mouse and keyboard.

So to do that, just right click the taskbar and check the option that says “Enable the touch keyboard button.” A new small keyboard symbol should show up near the system tray clock and clicking on it brings forward the touch keyboard that lets you select the new emoji and use them in your conversations.
