Microsoft releases new Windows Store app figures

One of the changes that Microsoft implemented in Windows 10 is a unified store available across all devices, which puts the concept of universal apps in the spotlight because it lets users download apps that can work on PCs, smartphones, and tablets from the same place.

And it turns out that this strategy is already paying off because new statistics provided by Microsoft for the Windows Store reveal that right now Windows 10 already accounts for more than 50 percent of all downloads performed here.

Overall, Windows 10 has already recorded more than 1.25 billion visits to the store, which Microsoft says represents an increasing opportunity for developers, who should bring their apps on the new OS as soon as possible.

“For developers, Windows 10 translates into 2X the user engagement and 4X the revenue per user compared to Windows 8.x. Just as our large app partners are finding success on Windows 10, we believe it’s a good time to build and publishing a universal Windows 10 app - both to reach the growing audience on PC today, as well as the new Windows 10 devices coming this fall,” the company says.

Games getting the most clicks

Right now, Games continues to be the number one category with more than 40 percent of the clicks, while Entertainment is the runner-up. Photo & Video is third, followed by Productivity and Utilities & Tools.

As far as the Games category itself is concerned, Windows 10 users seem to be the most interested in action & adventure titles, but also in puzzle & trivia and music games.

Americans are downloading the biggest number of apps on Windows 10, followed by users in China, Brazil, the United Kingdom, and Germany. India is also in the top, and so are Russia and France.

English is obviously the dominant language, but Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese are also doing very well.
