Windows 10 launched this week and the operating system is now being released to PCs across the world in waves, meaning that some could get the free upgrade faster than others.

And unsurprisingly, users are very eager to install it, so statistics show an insanely high adoption all over the globe.

A few days ago, Microsoft revealed that 14 million PCs were already running Windows 10 only 24 hours after its launch, but now some new figures reveal an even more exciting development for the Redmond-based tech giant.

Windows Central is reporting via a company insider that 67 million PCs have already installed Windows 10 until July 31, which is clearly a big achievement for Microsoft, as it plans to bring the new operating system on 1 billion devices by 2017.

Release taking place in waves

Obviously, having so many PCs running your new operating system after only a couple of days is quite an important achievement, but Microsoft expects this growing trend to continue in the following months, as the company is rolling out Windows 10 in waves across the world.

This means that some PCs might have to wait a little bit longer to get the operating system because it all depends on the compatibility issues that are found on your computer.

Microsoft says that depending on these problems, it could take longer before you get the free upgrade, as the company is willing to give you more time to resolve them and enjoy an issue-free experience with Windows 10.

Eventually, everyone eligible will be offered the free upgrade to Windows 10, Microsoft says, but in the case of those who might experience compatibility issues because of software and hardware, the company will give them several options, such as completing the install and then getting in touch with developers and manufacturers to address these problems.
