Just Cause 3 is at the center of one of the most outlandish pre-order campaigns ever as Square Enix is offering fans a chance to win an actual island. In order to get a shot at the unique prize, they must pre-order the game on either PS4 or Xbox One and cause as much havoc as possible during a 90-day period.

Just Cause 3 is one of the most anticipated games of the year, as tens of millions of fans fell in love with the open world sandbox experiences made by Avalanche Studios and published by Square Enix over the years.

The new title got a lot of great gameplay videos, screenshots, and details in recent months, as more and more information was shared by the two companies in order to get fans hyped up about its debut at the beginning of December.

Pre-order and play Just Cause 3 to win an actual island

However, by far the most intriguing marketing stunt has just been revealed for Just Cause 3. Those who pre-order and cause as much chaos as possible in its virtual world have a chance to win an actual island thanks to a unique contest ran by Avalanche and Square Enix.

As you can see in the video below, the contest is legitimate, but if you go on the official website, there are quite a lot of different caveats and rules.

First up, the contest is open only to PS4 and Xbox One users who pre-order the Day-One Edition of the game (sorry, PC users). Secondly, only those in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and Chile can enter.

Secondly, the actual island isn't depicted or confirmed just yet. The winner may choose to get a cash prize of $50,000 (around €43,600) and, for those in Mexico, only that prize equivalent is available.

Expect to hear much more about this wacky promotion in the future, as we get closer to the launch of Just Cause 3 at the beginning of December.
