Even though they worked together for 6 full months

Jared Leto is so Method that not even his co-stars in the upcoming Warner Bros. movie “Suicide Squad” have met him. They only know The Joker, who, to be fair, isn’t exactly the most charming person around.

Rumors of Leto’s intense Method approach have been around for a long time, before “Suicide Squad” went into production. They picked up pace when the movie started shooting and his co-stars talked to the media about how he sent them gifts as Joker and he’d never break character in between takes.

The rumors are true

They weren’t joking, Will Smith reveals in a new interview (see the video below, at the 15.35-minute mark).

Talking about the movie, Will says that, even though he worked with Jared for 6 whole months, he never met him in person. He’s only “met” The Joker, so he has no idea what Jared is like in real life.

“We worked together for six months and we’ve never exchanged a word outside of ‘Action!’ and ‘Cut!’ I literally have not met him yet. So, the first time I see him will be ‘Hey, Jared. What’s up?’ He was all in on the Joker,” the actor explains.

If you’ve been keeping up with the production on the film, you probably noticed that Leto didn’t spend any time with the cast outside of work. He wasn’t at the first reading and he wasn’t with them at the end, when they all got tattoos to have a reminder of the experience.

So while Will might be exaggerating a bit, there’s probably some truth to what he’s saying and Jared Leto really is as intense as they say.

“Suicide Squad” and Justice League

“Suicide Squad” is the third installment in Warner Bros.’ superhero franchise, after “Man of Steel” and the upcoming “Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice.” It brings together some of the biggest and most dangerous villains in the DC Comics universe and it links to these 2 movies and the future “Justice League” films.

This explains why Ben Affleck’s Batman also makes an appearance.

“Suicide Squad” also stars Margot Robbie, Jai Courtney, Cara Delevingne, Viola Davis and Joel Kinnaman, is directed by David Ayer, and will be out in August 2016.
