WhatsApp for Web launched last January, but just like Facebook's Web-based Messenger, it gained little traction, mainly because, well, most users use the mobile version.

The other reason the WhatsApp for Web version never got any love from regular WhatsApp users was the fact it never came with a full set of features, like the mobile version, only letting them carry out basic conversations from a bigger screen.

Today, AndroidPolice has noticed an update to the Web version of WhatsApp, one that brings many of the mobile app's features, and gives users more tools to manage their chats.

Users can now manage their profile and their group settings

The first noticeable change comes with the user's profile management tool, now users being able to change their photos and their status.

The second big change is the quick action menus that appear in the top right corner of the chat windows. These allow users to perform quick operations on the currently selected chat, either by archiving or deleting the chat, or by archiving group conversations, muting them, or for exiting the group.

Other small tweaks are included as well, including keyboard shortcuts

The controls also include a "Contact info" and "Group info" option, which bring into view a sidebar from the right side of the screen, showing details about the person we're having a chat with, or the group's details and participants.

This right sidebar also brings a big red button at the bottom, which quickly deletes chats with a specific person, or allows a user to quickly leave the current group.

In the left sidebar, where the current chats are listed, there's also an option to right-click the conversations, which in turn brings up a menu containing the similar controls listed above, for archiving and deleting the chat.

Some users have also reported seeing keyboard shortcuts listed next to some controls, but this feature seems to be active only for specific operating systems and browser types.
