Twitter feud is officially water under the bridge now

When the MTV VMAs 2015 nominations were announced last month, Nicki Minaj got into a Twitter feud with Taylor Swift because her “Anaconda” hadn’t been included among nominees for Video of the Year. They called a truce a few days later, after profuse and very public apologies.

If there was any doubt that the 2 had buried the hatchet, it should have been done away with at last night’s VMAs 2015, airing on MTV live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

Nicki Minaj opened the gala, as announced last week, delivering a colorful medley including “Trini Dem Girls” and “The Night Is Still Young.” There was a lot of twerking happening, but unlike it happened in 2013 with Miley Cyrus, this time audiences didn’t mind it.

However, the big surprise was seeing Taylor Swift coming up on stage during “The Night Is Still Young.” She was wearing an outfit that matched Nicki’s, so the appearance was planned. However, there wasn’t any live singing on Taylor’s part.

The performance closed with a snippet from Taylor’s “Bad Blood,” which ended up winning her the Video of the Year award by the end of the evening, and a hug that was meant to reassure their collective fanbase that everything was right between them again.
