14 DAY TRIAL // The Vivaldi developers announced earlier, March 15, 2016, the release and immediate availability for download and testing of a new snapshot for their upcoming Chromium-based web browser.
Vivaldi Snapshot 1.0.422.8 has been released mainly to add workarounds for some of the major issues reported by users since the previous snapshot build, version 1.0.418.3, announced last week. The first major issue fixed in this release is related to the fact that scrolling was not as smooth as users wanted it to be.
The second major issue reported by users in the previous Vivaldi snapshot is known as "Dead Birds" and appeared to be related to an upgrade to a newer version of the open-source Chromium web browser, which affected only some users with specific hardware components. A keyboard shortcut bug has been fixed as well.
"Today's snapshot fixes the major issue reported in the last one, meaning that scrolling should be smoother, and you will see less 'Dead Birds,'" said Ruarí Ødegaard, Linux QA and Testing at Vivaldi. "In the last snapshot, there was some concern from a handful of you, due to problems many attributed to a Chromium upgrade."
Netflix supports works again
Of course, the main priority of the Vivaldi developers is to hunt and kill as many bugs as possible before the final production version of the proprietary web browser sees the light of day later this year, but they're also working on some improvements and new features.
Therefore, Vivaldi Snapshot 1.0.422.8, which users can download right now from Softpedia for GNU/Linux, Mac OS X, and Microsoft Windows operating systems, brings back Netflix support, improves the search suggestions, and implements a minimum size for active tabs.
