Motorola has already kicked off the rollout of Android 5.1 Lollipop update for Moto X (2nd Gen), but carrier-branded versions usually get it slightly later.

The good news is US-based carrier Verizon has just approved the update and will soon push Android 5.1 Lollipop to Moto X (2nd Gen) devices.

The Big Red released the update's official changelog, which contains all the new features and improvements that Moto X (2nd Gen) owners should expect to get on their devices.

Unfortunately, browsing through the list of changes we noticed that Verizon does not mention anything about HD Voice support, which is officially included in Android 5.1 Lollipop.

However, there are many other new features and improvements that Moto X (2nd Gen) owners will get through this update.

Verizon lists among the highlights of this update the option to access apps and Android services on other connected screens like TVs, cars and wearables. Also, some tweaks to material design will offer more complex animations and 3-D views.

Last but not least, 64-bit ABI support and improved runtime are mentioned among the most important improvements included in this update.

The confirmed UI enhancements include the addition of Volume settings panel icons to match icons in status bar. Furthermore, after upgrading, users will be able to quickly select different Wi-Fi accessory or Bluetooth devices with added pull-down controls.

With the Factory Reset Protection feature, lost or stolen devices will remain locked until the Google account on phone is signed into, even if reset to factory settings is performed.

Some changes to notification Volume controls access have been added too, such as the option to modify the notification volume while media is playing by selecting new bell icon to show notification volume controls.

Verizon has yet to confirm when exactly Android 5.1 Lollipop rollout for Moto X (2nd Gen) will commence, but you can now check out the full changelog on the carrier's support website.
