Also, console command on consoles is a no-go

One of the most important features of Fallout 4 for the PC is the access to console commands, but Bethesda says that using them might corrupt the save games.

There's no surprise that the PC players of Fallout 4 get the most out of the game, with access to mods and console commands. Despite what you might think, not everything that can be done from a console has to do with cheats.

As we all know, Bethesda games are huge and riddled with bugs. It's happened more than once that the community found ways of dealing with those problems with the help of the console. And this is just one of the situations where you might need to access the console. The fact that the engine is flexible is really useful, but it's a shame that console players can't access the console.

Console access on consoles

This might sound like a no-brainer, but enabling console commands on the consoles, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, is actually much more complicated than you might think. Developers are saying that console commands can mess up the save games. Even if that almost never happens, it's still a problem on platforms where users don't have proper access to their save games.

One of the console users asked developers on Twitter if they would consider bringing console commands, and the answer was at least surprising. Not only that's not going to happen, at least not anytime soon, but they are also saying that it can cause problems with the save games.

Fortunately, the PC users can save the game all the time and have easy access to the save files, if something were to happen. Some users have been posting screenshots from Fallout 4 with corruption messages, but they have been sparse.
