TheeMahn, the developer behind the Ubuntu-based Ultimate Edition Linux operating system, has had the great pleasure of announcing the general availability for download of Ultimate Edition 4.2.3 LTS.

According to the release notes, which were published a couple of days ago on the project's website, the Ultimate Edition 4.2.3 LTS operating system comes in multiple editions, and it is intended as the developers' Christmas gift for their user base, bringing support for the ARM hardware architectures as well as various other goodies.

It appears to be a tradition of the Ultimate Edition Linux distro to get a Christmas release, as the project started in 2006 with a Christmas Edition. And this year's Christmas gift to users brings a long-term supported version of Ultimate Edition based on the Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) operating system.

"What is the special release, a Christmas themed Ultimate Edition? No, ARM steps to the plate in this release, a return to the roots of Ultimate Edition in the form of LTS (Long Term Support), and a step into the future all in one snap," said TheeMahn in the release announcement.

Ultimate Edition 4.2.3 LTS launches with three editions

There are three editions available for the Ultimate Edition 4.2.3 LTS release: the Ultimate Edition 4.2.3 LTS MATE Lite for 64-bit and 32-bit computers, Ultimate Edition 4.2.3 LTS ARMhf, and Ultimate Edition 4.2.3 LTS ARMhf Lite. On the other hand, there's also Ultimate Edition 4.9 for 64-bit systems.

However, some of them are still being uploaded to the servers at the moment of writing this article, so they're not all available for download. You should check back in a few hours to see if the rest of the editions have been released, but in the meantime, you can grab the current Ultimate Edition 4.2.3 LTS flavors right now from our website.
