14 DAY TRIAL // Canonical's Łukasz Zemczak informed us just a few minutes ago about the latest work done by the Ubuntu Touch developers in preparation for the forthcoming OTA-9 software update for Ubuntu Phone devices, due for release on January 27, 2016.
According to Mr. Zemczak, who seems to feel much better today (read yesterday's report to find out what happened - link below), the testing of the OTA-9 update continues. However, it looks like the Ubuntu QA team has found a nasty regression, which causes some problems with the interaction between the Camera app and the Content Hub component.
Nevertheless, the issue will most probably be fixed before the OTA-9 gets out. Otherwise, the team will have to push an OTA-9.5 hotfix shortly after the release of OTA-9. In the meantime, the Ubuntu Touch devs are working on the new Music app, which promises lots of attractive features, but it looks like it will be released after the OTA-9.
"OTA-9 testing continues. There's one regression that QA found a bit concerning - the bug seems to cause trouble with content-hub and camera-app interaction, but might also hide some bigger issue. Besides that we're also waiting to land the new music-app with a lot of new changes and features," said Łukasz Zemczak, Ubuntu Foundations.
OTA-10 landings continue at a slow pace
As reported yesterday, the new Camera app has landed today in the Release Candidate images for OTA-9, which has seen yet another re-spin. Tomorrow, January 21, the Ubuntu Touch team will do one more re-spin of the RC image also to include the new translations promised a few days ago.
In the meantime, the team has started to add new features to the next major release, the OTA-10, in the rc-proposed channel, which is open for landings since yesterday, but at a slow pace. Therefore, today there have been new versions of the QtUbuntu-Media and Media-Hub components with fixes for audio playback in the Messaging app.
