Roberto J. Dohnert from Black Lab Software, the company behind the well-known Black Lab Linux computer operating system, was happy to inform Softpedia earlier about the immediate availability for download and testing of Black Lab Linux 2015.10 RC4.

While still based on the Ubuntu 15.04 (Vivid Vervet) operating system, which will reach end of life next year, in January, the fourth Release Candidate (RC) build of the upcoming Black Lab Linux 2015.10 distribution is here to address some of those nasty issues reported by users since the second and third RC versions of the OS.

Black Lab Linux 2015.10 RC4 is now powered by Ubuntu 15.04's Linux 3.19.0-51 kernel packages and was synchronized with the upstream Vivid Vervet software repositories, which means that it includes all the security patches and software updates that have been released as of October 23, 2015.

"Today we are releasing RC4. Release Candidate 4 is a major bug and application fix that plagued users of the RC2 and RC3 series," said Roberto J. Dohnert. "With that we also have some changes that came along and landed in RC4. Some visual changes and some application changes."

What's new in Black Lab Linux 2015.10 RC4

Among the changes implemented in the fourth Release Candidate build of Black Lab Linux 2015.10, we can mention fixes for issues with HDMI mirroring and MTP volume mounting, a patch for a problem with the Dropbox daemon, better support for virtual machines. Moreover, most of the Wi-Fi networking issues have been resolved.

Last but not least, it is now possible to create a bootable medium using the Black Lab Linux 2015.10 ISO image, the Seamonkey 2.38 and Opera 34 software was added, and 2007 Macbook wireless drivers are now included by default. You can download Black Lab Linux 2015.10 RC4 right now from Softpedia, but please try to keep in mind that this is a pre-release version, not suitable for production use.
