Nekhelesh Ramananthan has posted some interesting information on his blog about the latest work done for the default Clock app of Canonical's Ubuntu Touch mobile operating system.

Among the new features implemented in the Clock app, which now uses the new Ubuntu 15.04 (Vivid Vervet) SDK ListItems, we can mention support for custom alarm sounds, the ability to translate newly added world cities when changing the phone's default language, and an all-new navigation structure to access the Stopwatch.

There's also the addition of new system icons instead of the hard coded ones, as well as the ability to add world cities that have apostrophes in their names. Moreover, the Stopwatch received various usability tweaks, such as the ability to run in the background and to keep the screen from dimming while its running.

"We have been working on a new clock app update with lots of goodies. I thought I would summarize the release briefly," says Nekhelesh Ramananthan. "Huge props to Bartosz Kosiorek for helping out with this release and coordinating with the Canonical designers for the stopwatch & timer designs."

Several other issues have been fixed

In addition to the new features mentioned above, the Clock app saw fixes for several issues reported by users. For example, the default alarm is now much stronger, the behavior of the alarm confirmation in the alarm page header is no longer confusing, and the fonts of the alarm times displayed in the alarm page are now bolder and bigger.

Last but not least, a nice and smooth animation has been added to the up or down movement of the items in the alarm list when the user adds or deletes alarms, a fade animation will be used when alternating between alarm ETA and frequency every five seconds, and the alarm time will now be correctly set when the current time is a multiple of 5. The updated Clock app will be live in the Ubuntu Store for all Ubuntu Touch users next week.
